What is epic adventure?

epic | ‘epik | noun a long film, book, or other word portraying heroic deeds and adventures or covering an extended period of time. adjective 1. of, relating to, or characteristic of an epic or epics.

I define epic adventure as a category of fiction that includes many genres, such as high fantasy, science fiction, historical epics, and modern survival. Or, in other words: it’s anything that focuses on intense danger with a good dose of heroics.

This form of storytelling has been around since the beginning of civilization, from The Epic of Gilgamesh to Homer’s Iliad. Why? Because humans need epic stories. Our heroes inspire us to face our darkest fears and become our bravest selves. They tell us that nothing is impossible. They inspire us to face life’s challenges with grit and tenacity.

What is this blog?

This is where I share everything I learn about how to write epic adventure, as I work on my own novel and novella, both due for release in 2017. Sometimes I’ll just share tips I’ve learned myself (including all my mistakes). Sometimes I’ll interview people smarter than myself so we can learn from them together.

Once a month, I’ll also shine a light into my personal life and give an update on my writing projects, for the curious. 🙂 Occasionally I show my weird side. Or maybe I always show my weird side? *ponders* I’ll leave that for you to decide.

Wait… who are you?

Oh… well, I supposed I should properly introduce myself. *clears throat* Hi! I’m Brianna da Silva. I’m the author of this blog. I write books… er… I already said that… um… how about we do this on another page?

Where should I start?
