Illegal was a dark, dystopian novel I wrote in 2014.  I never published it, but I did create some cover concepts for it while I was making my design portfolio in school.

For this concept, I used photography and photomanipulation in Photoshop to create a new, realistic image. The cover art needed to entice the audience (adults between the ages of 18-25, slightly more geared to women) and involve elements of the story. I used bloody flowers to foster a sense of macabre mystery and also symbolize themes in the story. Because the front is so texture-heavy, the back is cleaner, and continues the theme of dark red to create hierarchy.

** Note: No flowers were harmed in the making of this book cover. **
